Automation Engineer Job Description

The Automation Engineer will identify opportunities where automated systems will reduce labor, improve quality, and improve ergonomics and/or safety. 

  • Interfaces with the Manufacturing Team to anticipate manufacturing requirements and methods.  Research, evaluate, and recommend production methods, resources, and equipment for new processes
  • Communicates with the manufacturing manager to evaluate new processes and equipment.  Makes equipment/buy recommendations based on research and data
  • Applies strong, proven practical experience with PLCs, servomotors, robotics, and sensors to improve automated production processes and reduce human interaction
  • Troubleshooting Electrical, PLC, and other industrial automation in a manufacturing environment
  • Design, install, Program, and commission all small-sized automation control systems 
  • Makes recommendations regarding automation equipment and fixtures to support manufacturing

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical or Electrical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 75th percentile on Mechanical Reasoning

Language Skills

  • Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization
  • Strong communication and training skills and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users

Quality Engineer Job Description

The Quality Engineer (QE) is responsible for customer-plant liaison, quality cost analysis, specifications, and processes to support manufacturing operations using technical knowledge and software tools as needed.  Responsible for implementing and improving statistical methods, quality cost analysis, specification and procedure development, and conducting internal and supplier quality audits as necessary.  Conduct customer complaint investigations (root cause analysis) and determine the proper actions to be taken.  Lead the efforts for Process Validation as necessary.

  • Review customer complaints, analyze returns, and lead implementation of corrective/preventative action(s)
  • Review statistical sampling that will ensure adequate quality in our manufactured product
  • Monitor all manufacturing processes through audits and daily evaluations, to ensure that processes are being followed and shortcuts are not being taken
  • Develop a list of improvement opportunities from quality metrics and systematically develop improvement plans and strategies
  • Conduct verification audits of implemented corrective action

Required

  • BS Degree in Science / Engineering discipline or equivalent manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in product and process failure analysis and understanding quality techniques such as SPC, TQM, etc. 
  • Must have demonstrated a record of achievement in problem-solving with production teams
  • Must have an understanding of quality techniques for continuous improvement. Six Sigma is a plus
  • Understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820, 210, and 211 and documentation to support compliance 
  • Must understand Statistical Process Control tools

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

Mold Designer Job Description

Designs and models complex geometries and specifications for molds, fixtures, and related components using advanced software tools.  Conceptualizes and designs parts for manufacturability.

  • Professionally communicates with customers and internal resources during design and revision to balance customer design specifications and manufacturability
  • Develops original CAD models using company standard design development software
  • Develops mold simulations and customer presentations of simulation results using the company standard simulation software
  • Creates detailed specifications and electronic models sufficient to support manufacturing operations
  • Given a preliminary design or concept, offers design ideas and improvements, based on experience and innovative engineering
  • Observes process development activities to be sure that the design files are kept up to date in PDM

Required

  • Highschool diploma and; 
  • Mechanical Engineer degree or equivalent technical experience
  • Above-Average Mechanical Aptitude Score and:
  • 75th percentile score on the Spatial Relations test
  • Advanced (3 years minimum experience) in the operation of standard CAD/Design software
  • Shop math skills, including trigonometry
